An Exercise In Trivial Pursuits

Fatshion, Food & Frivolities – Life in Las Vegas & Singapore

Running away

I’m planning to run away for about 4-5 days in November. I had a nice 2 week holiday in January when I went off to England. Then a short 5-day trip to Bandung, Indonesia in July. I’m hoping to get away for a short trip but I don’t know where and really, I don’t care.

This is one of my 35 by 35s. I plan to just pack a suitcase of clothes and go to the airport in the morning. Then draw lots and see which row I get. Buy any ticket on the next flight (under SGD1000) and run off. Luck of the draw! So I have to pack for both Summer and Winter! Ok, and maybe book accommodation online just before I board the plane.

I’ve had 2 people who have expressed interest in my crazy scheme so far. But I doubt they’ll go through with it. Firstly, they talked about how they had to pack their entire wardrobe. Secondly, they had reservations about it being “dangerous”.

Well… I might just go on my own and try my luck! And maybe try the power of 6 degrees of separation! I’ll blog as I go along and hopefully friends of friends will pick up the pieces along the way. Testing the karmic spheres here… What do you think?

I left Singapore for the US of A in 2013 and now live in Las Vegas with my indie game dev husband and our son Gummi Gumdrop. I am also probably much older than you think I am.

  1. I like this fantasy. But please allow yourself to say ‘no’ to the first draw if the destination is an obviously dangerous one.
Money, bare necessities, courage, and will power are all you need. Company is a bonus, maybe.
As we all know, material things can be bought in your next destination. Oh… but some places might require a visa.

  2. Sigh. Zurich for under $1000 is going to be tough 😦

  3. Girl, you inspire me! I’m totally looking forward to seeing where you go as well as reading about your adventures! 🙂

    • I’m doing it!!!! Except it’s a little different. My friend Patsy texted to asked if I was free to go to Taiwan in December. I was too busy at work to think about the details so I gave her the dates I was available and she went ahead to book the trip. 2 days after I bank transferred the money to her, I discovered the package tour itinerary! A PACKAGE TOUR TO TAIWAN FOR 8 days! ME… packaged tour… That’s an adventure in itself.

  4. i’d go with you if only i had leave left!
