Oh wow it’s been almost 1 1/2 years since I last wore this dress. I’m so glad I brought it along with me (some of my outfits didn’t make it over and I was on a giving spree for a while too).
What I’m wearing today:
Dress: Blue striped cherry print sundress from MARKS & SPENCER
Bottom: Black meringue petticoat from DOMINO DOLLHOUSE
Accessories: Coral floral barrette from ACCESSORIZE; Black stretchy belt with gold shell buckles from FRENCH CONNECTION
As you can tell, this is statement necklace is my Accessory Du Jour. It’s just so fun and easy to throw on almost everything I own. I got it at the FOSSIL outlet store at Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas in Primm Valley for only USD15 last year!
As you can tell, I love bright colours. I am making up for lost time since I spent most of my 20s in dark coloured clothes (and vertical stripes). Given that I spent 5 years as a school teacher, I felt like it was part of the job description that I dress more “sensibly” and less “flashy”. Needless to say, I wasted my youth pretending to be an old lady.
I’m going to be 40 in 4 years and even if age is just a number, damn Mother Nature and gravity doesn’t know that. I fear the day when I get too saggy to enjoy myself anymore… HAHHAHAHA!!! So the time is NOW! People, hear me. THE TIME IS NOW! Regardless of your insecurities. It WILL eventually go downhill and you don’t want to wait for that day to come before regretting everything you didn’t do.
Bottom: Mint swing skirt and Peach Meringue petticoat from DOMINO DOLLHOUSE
Accessories: Pink baubles statement necklace from FOSSIL; Pink bangle from SONIA RYKIEL POUR H&M; Black stretchy belt with double buckles from BCBGMAXAZRIA
My pal Ryddy gifted me this dress from England and he likes women to dress with a more feminine style. So the key thing to making this dress work for me was the petticoat. I don’t have nice curvy hips (or any hips at all) so I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the fact that this dress had a big circle skirt. This is what I call the inverted cupcake look – the frosting at the bottom, see? I would love to dress like a cupcake all the time…
How do you store your bags? Hiking backpacks, shopping totes, small irregular-shaped clutches, handbags of every manner… HOW?! I didn’t bring all my bags with me when I moved to Las Vegas. Some were given to friends who really liked them, some went to my sister, some I managed to sell… BUT I still have quite a few that I eventually brought over.
Today I was trying to tidy our tiny walk-in closet to make sure that I know what I have and that they’re still in good condition. So for those with dust bags, they are carefully placed in their respective bags and stacked. The ones without, if I’m able to find a Ziplock big enough, they get zipped up then stacked. The others unfortunately just sit in my empty suitcase forgotten until I have to empty the suitcase for travels. It is not ideal at all…
I thought this would be a great time for me to start documenting the bags in my modest collection because most of my outfit posts do not feature my bags at all. So here goes…
Absolutely love this old-fashioned purse with a kitsch twist! Bought it off eBay several years ago for a steal! I haven’t been able to find any more 😦 Most of the Paul Frank bags on eBay are knockoffs or overpriced. This is one of those really well-made authentic pieces. I always get asked about it when I bring it out.
These couple of weeks have been really tiring. Other than work, my family and I have been taking turns with the care of my maternal grandmother, as well as the household chores since our last maid went back to the Philippines and we all have full-time jobs. I’m mostly in charge of bathing my grandmother, bathing the dog, doing the laundry, washing the dishes and cooking. Hence, you know… the lack of updates.
On the upside, I’m counting down to my big holiday!! Another 2 1/2 weeks before I fly! Can’t wait to get back to Vegas to see T and take Max out for a walk again! And during the weekend of September 7, we will be in New York! *woot*
Footwear: Pink/Leopard print flatforms/creepers from FromTheHeel on eBay
Today’s photos are by my wonderful colleague Jovin using my 2nd hand iPhone 4 and of course, as usual, taken just outside our office. HAHA! I’m not even apologetic about how basic and easily this is done. How do other bloggers do it? Going to a different location each time and lugging a huge-ass camera everyday.
It’s Friday! The weeks are just zooming by so quickly! Where did the time go?? I know what I’m doing with my time today though! I’ve taken half the day off to hang out with my gal pals aka The SPArty Girls! We’re going to HOUSE @ Dempsey for their Vintage High Tea. I read a bunch of reviews and blog posts… TOTALLY SOLD! See here, here and here. I hope we have a lovely time later today. I might share some pictures in my next post… if I remember. There’s a possibility that I would get so distracted and greedy that I’ll totally forget to document the afternoon!
In other news, I am looking to revamp my blog after using free WordPress templates since Day 1. I have some ideas of what I want to have on it and the ideal layout but T hasn’t been able to get that going even though he tried. I’ve looked at some premade templates on Etsy that I liked but weren’t exactly what I have in mind. Also, many of the premade templates don’t work with my free wordpress account and I have to get a self-hosted one or works only on blogspot. I want a 3 column layout (2 sidebars) with a customized photo header that changes, and a clickable custom image link menu under that. Any ideas or suggestions? Some examples of what I like are THIS, THIS, THIS and THIS.

Today is another gloomy day, I’m just glad that the rain let up easily and I wasn’t caught in the wetness. Appraisals for me happen in about 4hours. I believe I put in as much as I could’ve last year and I hope it’ll show. Fingers crossed for a good review!
Anyways today I’m wearing a new t-shirt I got at the Tennis show in March! They’re an American indie pop act from Denver and I had so much fun at their show!
What I’m wearing today:
Top: Grey band tee from TENNIS
Accessories: Bright pink obi bow belt from H&M; Bangle from SONIA RYKIEL POUR H&M; Multi-coloured hairbow (gift from T)
Skirt: Mint Green chiffon skirt and Black MERINGUE petticoat from DOMINO DOLLHOUSE
Footwear: Black square studs P Galia loafers from STEVE MADDEN
And introducing my photographer, Mrs Mylene Fong!!
I consider today’s outfit a dress-down-day. I’ll be meeting 2 friends from Secondary school for lunch today and thought I should just blend into the crowd especially since I haven’t seen them in years. Wouldn’t want them to feel weird around me, you know? What do you think?
Today I feel like a present (I mean a gift). My outfit today is inspired by a My Melody umbrella that Sian Eng gave me – but I forgot to take a photo of it so… You’ll just have to trust me on this one.
What I’m wearing today:
Top: Baby pink sleeveless top with appliqué shoulders from NEW LOOK
Accessories: Black plastic bow ring from SIX ACCESSORIES; Neon Pink stretchy Obi Sash belt from H&M
Skirt: Peach Meringue petticoat and Mint Green swing skirt from DOMINO DOLLHOUSE
Footwear: Black hidden wedge pumps from ZIPIA
And thank you to Michelle for taking today’s photos!
