I’ve decided that the next time I wear this ensemble, it’ll be for Christmas. FIngers crossed that it’ll be warm enough indoors when we’re in New York though… What do you think? I think it’s quite Christmassy, no? Of course, I’ll have a super fluffy down-feather mid-length coat with me as well.
What I’m wearing today:
Dress: Black and red floral skater dress from BRAT STAR
Accessories: Vintage teal and gold necklace from SELECT 18 (Soho, Hong Kong); Black flower barrette from ASOS; Black stretchy belt with gold bow from BCBGeneration
Leggings: Black polka dotted leggings from DOROTHY PERKINS
So this happened today. I took these pictures on my way out to the Post Office and for some silly reason, it didn’t occur to me to put down the plastic bag I was carrying. I have no idea where I got this Lakeshore bag – have never bought anything from there and I have no children. It was however holding 3 parcels that I was going to mail out.
Today we took a bus from the Monroe Park & Ride to New York City itself. The journey took about 90 minutes and we alighted at the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
We were on a budget so we mostly did free things like walk down Times Square, 5th Avenue and also Central Park. I did my next NYAW feature photo shoot and we also met up with T’s cousins for dinner.
It was a beautiful day and warm outside so this is what I wore:
Top: Black & white polka dotted top from UNIQLO X LULU GUINNESS
Accessories: Orange polka dotted hair bow from thestreetsofbangkok
Bottom: Black skater skirt from TOPSHOP
Leggings: Black polka dotted leggings from DOROTHY PERKINS
Footwear: Black slouchy wide calf boots from REPORT (on Amazon)
Hello from Nanuet, New York! I’m at T’s Grammy’s house and standing in the garden that his mom just planted this summer!
It’s a nice day out and about 20degC! I’m wearing something really light and that’s an unlined coat – just nice for the beginnings of Autumn (it’s going to take a while before I say Fall).
Anyway….
What I’m wearing today:
Dress: Purple/Pink/Black floral print dress from DOROTHY PERKINS
Outerwear: Beige baby-doll long coat from DELIAS
Accessories: Purple stretchy belt with gold buckle (came with the dress) from DOROTHY PERKINS; Coral floral hairpin from ACCESSORIZE
Bag: Black kiss-clasp purse from PAIL FRANK
Footwear: Purple ballet flats with bow from OLD NAVY
Another dark and gloomy day. My indoor photos are not so nice lately. A super loud crash and boom of thunder minutes before this photo was taken. I love it when it rains but hate the muggy humidity when it stops. Sigh…
For some reason (other than the fact that we have our long and serious department meeting on Wednesdays), I feel like I’m dressed like an OL (Office Lady) more than usual. Sure, most office ladies would stop at one floral item instead of piling them on. What do you think?
What I’m wearing today:
Dress: Purple/Pink/Black floral sleeveless shift dress from DOROTHY PERKINS (This must be at least 5 years old!)
Accessories: Ethnic embroidery obi sash from somewhere in Inner Mongolia (It’s probably not Mongolian but Chinese.)
Footwear: Black ASHIKA SCOOPED BALLET flats from ROCKPORT
It’s Friday! The weeks are just zooming by so quickly! Where did the time go?? I know what I’m doing with my time today though! I’ve taken half the day off to hang out with my gal pals aka The SPArty Girls! We’re going to HOUSE @ Dempsey for their Vintage High Tea. I read a bunch of reviews and blog posts… TOTALLY SOLD! See here, here and here. I hope we have a lovely time later today. I might share some pictures in my next post… if I remember. There’s a possibility that I would get so distracted and greedy that I’ll totally forget to document the afternoon!
In other news, I am looking to revamp my blog after using free WordPress templates since Day 1. I have some ideas of what I want to have on it and the ideal layout but T hasn’t been able to get that going even though he tried. I’ve looked at some premade templates on Etsy that I liked but weren’t exactly what I have in mind. Also, many of the premade templates don’t work with my free wordpress account and I have to get a self-hosted one or works only on blogspot. I want a 3 column layout (2 sidebars) with a customized photo header that changes, and a clickable custom image link menu under that. Any ideas or suggestions? Some examples of what I like are THIS, THIS, THIS and THIS.
What I’m wearing today:
Top: Black bra tank top from UNIQLO
Bottom: Mint swing skirt and Peach Meringue petticoat from DOMINO DOLLHOUSE

Today in evacuee-fashion. Sorry, I kid. Anyway I read on Facebook that if you don’t make at least 1 haze joke, you’re not Singaporean. I find it really strange how Indonesian forest fires (the ones deliberately caused by unscrupulous cost-saving corporations) are treated as a part of life here. I overheard some people commenting how the haze “came earlier this year”.
Seriously though last night was really bad, the skies have been a weird colour since PSI levels hit 321 (hazardous). I believe visibility is not beyond 1km. The air smells acrid and I’ve been feeling sick ever since. Lucky for me, my company issued us N95 masks from 3M. These masks are really comfortable compared to the other flat paper types I’ve worn in the past. The mask forms a cup around your mouth and nose and there is a metal strip around the nose area for you to form-fit, hence forming a tighter seal (not completely air-tight though). You can still move your lips and the mask does not press down on your nose or mouth.
Anyway, haze or not, a cardigan is good to have. This is a piece called Jersey Waterfall Cardigan sponsored by FLOW and while it’s described as Teal, even my colleagues tell me it looks green. If you’ve ever had double-headed colour pencils, this is the green directly opposite the chrome yellow. Again, I’m not sure why my iPhone is not capturing the colour that I see.
Other than that, the supposed long sleeves are not. They are more 3/4 sleeves and if you’re regular height (i.e. 1.60m upwards) you will find it a little too short. Other than that, it is as described – a generous fit. I love it. It’s so soft and comfortable! Cardigans are great for transitioning in strange weather conditions – hot outdoors, cold air-conditioning indoors. Or when travelling – too cold airplanes, too hot climates? I love cardigans for layering as it can immediately jazz up a plain boring outfit and the waterfall side panels (shorter at the back), does lend some interesting detail.

Google Lisa Marie Lip and chances are, you’ll get links on how to do your make-up to look like Elvis Presley’s daughter. So I’m gonna cut to the chase and tell you that NO, this is not a how-to post, it’s not a tutorial on how to get your lips into that sexy pout so famous of MJ’s ex. Here are 3 things you need to know about today’s NOT YOUR AVERAGE WOMAN feature – Lisa Marie Lip:
1. She was born in Petaling Jaya in Malaysia; has lived in San Francisco, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dublin; and now made Singapore her home.
2. She rides a cool bicycle to work (in the city centre no less).
Other than that, Lisa says she always loved looking good but growing up curvy in Asia gave her few choices. It wasn’t until she went to college in the US that she discovered the wide array of stylish options that she started taking it more seriously. These days, she reckons she spends about S$300 monthly on clothes, shoes, and bags.
And now for her style philosophy:
1. What is your dress/shoe size? It is anywhere from a UK 14 to 18. Shoe size is UK 7.
2. Describe Your Style Eclectic and colourful.Sometimes it’s almost like the print and colour fairies threw up on me I’ll wear just about any colour except grey and beige.
3. What do you normally wear to work or a work event/meeting?Almost always a dress and heels.
4. Where and how do you shop?In Singapore it’s where the UK brands like Dorothy P, M & S or New Look are. How do I shop? Hmmm usually alone if I want to do some serious retail therapy. I know what I like so it doesn’t take me too long to suss out how much time I want to spend in a shop. It can be 30 seconds or 30 minutes and if I’m with someone I’ll have to wait on them or I’ll feel bad if they have to wait a long time for me.
5. What are your favourite things to buy?Dresses, skirts, blouses, necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches, hats, belts, shoes, shoes, shoes
6. What are your favourite brands or shops?I love vintage clothing and not the kind that they sell at $200 in Singapore. There’s nothing I love more than a good hunt through charity shops to find an amazing dress for $20. Usually this only happens when I’m in Australia, US or UK.
7. How do you dress on your blah-days?Probably a printed T from Uniqlo and a skirt. If we were in a cooler climate it would be jeans!
8. When you were 12, what did you imagine your life would be like at your current age?Somehow I never envisioned life beyond my 20s. I thought the sequence of things would be university degree, job, marriage and kids all before 30. How different things have turned out!
We had so much fun visiting Lisa Marie’s colourful and whimsical bachelorette pad! She is definitely not your everyday, run-of-the-mill average! This woman has gone places and is not afraid to live life as she pleases! I hope you are as inspired by her as we are!
Hello it’s Wednesday… Sorry, I forgot I wanted to do What The Frock Wednesdaysagain. HAH!
Thanks to the kind people at WE LOVE COLORS, I am in love with my brand new Plus Sized Splash Color Tights! I was looking for something blue and not quite galaxy print because I’ve already got 2 pairs in the footless style. This is colour #2132. size A/B. For reference, I’m a UK16/18 and I’m 5′ 0″ (or 1.53m). The tights are a little too long and comes up to just under my boobs but this happens to me all the time because I’m Plus Petite. As with the other WE LOVE COLORS stockings, this has a very strong built-in gusset – which is very important to me as most hosiery manufacturers seem to neglect it. The crotch gusset reduces the stress caused by tugging when you pull them up, so the tights lasts longer and doesn’t rip. Who wants crotchless stockings??? At the same time, I feel that it eliminates the gross camel-toe effect.
Anyway, thank you Sian Eng again for today’s photos.
