Oh wow it’s been almost 1 1/2 years since I last wore this dress. I’m so glad I brought it along with me (some of my outfits didn’t make it over and I was on a giving spree for a while too).
What I’m wearing today:
Dress: Blue striped cherry print sundress from MARKS & SPENCER
Bottom: Black meringue petticoat from DOMINO DOLLHOUSE
Accessories: Coral floral barrette from ACCESSORIZE; Black stretchy belt with gold shell buckles from FRENCH CONNECTION
Today’s post is inspired by @blackdotred on instagram (follow me too! I’m @wastedfash10n). Her outfit posts always include a high collared top and a statement necklace. So here’s my take on her style…
What I’m wearing today:
Top: Blue chambray long-seelved blouse with star print from OLD NAVY
Accessories: Red jewel flower statement necklace from MYBEAD88 on eBay; Blue and Red dangly earrings from Forever21
Bottom: Red KEITH HARING mini skirt from FOREVER21
This is one of 2 chinoiserie dresses that I own and I hardly ever take them out even I’ve had them both for several years now. The thing with these figure-grazing dresses is that I have to find good days to wear them (i.e. no PMS bloating or buffets). Chinese women are usually so slender that it’s almost impossible to be fat and look good in traditional costume. Luckily this isn’t really one of those made-in-china for Chinese women type dresses. I do sometimes wish I can buy off-the-rack cheongsams but I know even if I find one in my size, I don’t have the right shape to carry off the image that I want (in my head).
What I’m wearing today:
Dress: Burgundy Wine Red Mini Dress with Black Lace & Bow from PATRICIA VALERY on etsy
This was my wedding dress. T and I deliberately chose to buy something we can wear repeatedly. No sense in wasting the money just for one day. I wore this to the Las Vegas chapel wedding and also to my tea ceremony in Singapore – albeit with different accessories. It has served me well!
What I’m wearing today:
Dress: Blue floral “Vintage Elizabeth” tea dress from SOHOMODE
Do you shop online? When I lived in Singapore, I shopped on eBay for gently used on-trend clothes that were within my budget and also my size. Then I discovered etsy and I not only bought a lot of vintage dresses but I started ordering custom-made ones – each dress would cost between US60 – 150. After that, I went through a clothes copying phase where I bought cheap and cute fabric from textile shops in Singapore then getting local tailors to replicate my favourite dresses. These days, I have little desire to go through all that trouble – partly because I’m now a housewife and I don’t have anywhere to go, partly because I feel like my money could be put elsewhere (like *koffkoff* the mortgage payments of our home). It doesn’t hurt that I now live in Las Vegas and we’re not far from the outlet malls… heehee..
What I’m wearing today:
Dress: Custom-made dress from LaMadeleine on etsy.com
This is the only 2nd time I’ve worn this dress since I bought at the post-holidays sale in January this year. My sisters and I were shopping at the H&M sale in Town Square (Las Vegas) and we basically bought more than 15 pieces for like $200 or so. This dress was $15 and I liked it enough because of the starry galaxy print but not enough to buy it without the encouraging of my sisters *koffkoff* If you ladies know what I mean…
What I’m wearing today:
Dress: Black starry print dress from H&M
Accessories: Grey Chinese knot necklace from 2014happy5866 on eBay
Oh wow! It’s been along time since I last wore this dress. I think it was to my ex-colleague Grace’s wedding… I’m not sure why but I always feel like the frilly nature of the dress itself is too… uhm.. dressy. HAHAHA! And this makes me want to do some 70s disco dancing you know.
Just a quick one today. Sometimes, it’s not about what fancy new things one is wearing – it really is what I wear on a daily basis. I love band t-shirts and I wear them VERY OFTEN. And oh yes, how can we forget – favourite necklace of the moment again! Woohoo!!
