The weather in Las Vegas today was awesome! Just 2 days ago on New Year’s Eve, we had a super cold front and it snowed! Where we lived, there were only flurries but other parts of the valley experienced heavier fall. And that was the day we went to the Premium Outlet North where all the shops are not connected and you had to walk in the open. My mum and sisters were bundled up with scarves, gloves and beanies! Today however, it was just warm enough to get away with a jumper and a scarf – it was about 6 degC and if you’re in the sun, it’s totally toasty.
So life has gotten the better of me recently and I’m updating less here – which is a fantastic thing! After T’s Playstation Experience exhibition, I’ve been busy with my family coming over, then preparing for Christmas dinner and also getting ready for Christmas in general – writing Christmas cards, putting a list of gifts T wants to get for his family (most of them mailed out of state) etc.
But now, back to regular programming before I disappear again for the year end holidays…
OMG! How cute are my new shoes? Thank you, Le Bunny Bleu for my grey Maia Boat Shoes. Flats are great for me since I’m always pounding the pavement and on the move. I hardly have the opportunity to wear heels these days and they’re not exactly the most practical thing for a housewife who lives in the desert. Then again, while I don’t have a lot of shoes, I do not lack any cute ones either. Really happy to add these to my collection – cute colour and how sweet is their little bunny logo??
As you’d have read from my post about 3 weeks ago, I’ve started using Young Living essential oils on the recommendation of my friend Ana. Ana uses the oils for the health of her young family and gave me some that she thought might help me too. In the last few weeks, I’ve been faithfully using the oils she selected for me, including some of the ones that came in the Basic Starter Kit. In fact, the one that I felt worked for me almost immediately is STRESS AWAY.
My small bottle of STRESS AWAY was included in the Basic Starter Kit and came with the AromaGlide Fitment – basically a roll-on attachment which makes applying topically such a breeze. Every night as I wind down (it takes me a while to settle into my bedtime hygiene), I roll some onto my wrists and I do the same for T as well.
We have a bottle of Melatonin right next to us (actually on his nightstand) because for some reason, it’s difficult for us to fall asleep. I don’t use Melatonin as much as T because I don’t work and I basically have the luxury of waking/sleeping as my body clock decrees but sometimes, it’s just annoying to be tossing and turning. I’ve noticed that I haven’t needed any Melatonin for the last 3 weeks since I started using Stress Away to relax before turning in.
I can’t say for sure that it’s all attributed to STRESS AWAY but it is an obvious variable and it doesn’t hurt that it smells really nice.
For the longest time, I couldn’t figure out why it brings back childhood memories. T and I actually looked up the ingredients to see what it contains – it has lime, vanilla pure, copaiba and lavender. The only conclusion I have is that it smells like incense or something we use during the Hare Krishna Kirtans we used to host at my parents’ house when I was growing up. Whatever it is, Stress Away seems to work for me right now and I’m going to continue using it.
If you’re keen to learn more, hit up my pal Ana and she’ll be happy to answer more questions about essential oils.
I saw Aarti’s instagram post on this dress and I was like, HEY! I have it too! And I thought it should be today’s Outfit of the Day.
I really like this dress even though I was very skeptical about fitted dresses bought online. I have a really wide midsection compared to my hips so I wear a UK12 for bottoms if they are elasticised and go up to a UK16 when they are fitted. The miracles of miracles… THIS DRESS FITTED LIKE IT WAS MEANT FOR ME! If you’ve been following my blog, you’d know that I love custom tailored dresses and I have at least 12 dresses that are made-to-measure because I just want them to fit me for me. This dress however, felt like it was just that even though it was prêt-à-porter! Wheeee… Happy happy joy joy!
The other good thing is that shift dresses are great for bringing you from work to play. And that’s why I’ve dressed it up differently here. For work, play down the florals and brights with a jacket and more sensible shoes. As simple as that! Quick change of shoes, a bolder lipstick and flash some skin, that’s it! A different look!
Outerwear: Grey and black lined boucle blazer from OLD NAVY Studio Spotlight
Accessories: Gold dangling shards necklace from OLIVER BONAS; Gold pleather weave belt from H&M
Footwear: Red lacquer platform sandals from ZARA WOMEN; Black wedge pumps from ZIPIA
I can’t rave enough about how awesome this dress is at only S$45.90. This dress comes in Size 1 (UK14), Size 2 (UK16), Size 3 (UK18) and Size 4 (UK20). I love that while it’s a fitted waist, it’s cut generously and is lined! Of course, if you know me, POCKETS! It’s missing pockets! Otherwise, it’s perfect! Anyway, don’t worry if you’re not in Singapore. LURVE HANDLES ship internationally too! That’s how I got mine! It flew here!
Oh by the way, here’s Aarti’s post on the same dress (and then some) on her blog! Check it out!
It’s Friday! The weeks are just zooming by so quickly! Where did the time go?? I know what I’m doing with my time today though! I’ve taken half the day off to hang out with my gal pals aka The SPArty Girls! We’re going to HOUSE @ Dempsey for their Vintage High Tea. I read a bunch of reviews and blog posts… TOTALLY SOLD! See here, here and here. I hope we have a lovely time later today. I might share some pictures in my next post… if I remember. There’s a possibility that I would get so distracted and greedy that I’ll totally forget to document the afternoon!
In other news, I am looking to revamp my blog after using free WordPress templates since Day 1. I have some ideas of what I want to have on it and the ideal layout but T hasn’t been able to get that going even though he tried. I’ve looked at some premade templates on Etsy that I liked but weren’t exactly what I have in mind. Also, many of the premade templates don’t work with my free wordpress account and I have to get a self-hosted one or works only on blogspot. I want a 3 column layout (2 sidebars) with a customized photo header that changes, and a clickable custom image link menu under that. Any ideas or suggestions? Some examples of what I like are THIS, THIS, THIS and THIS.
What I’m wearing today:
Top: Black bra tank top from UNIQLO
Bottom: Mint swing skirt and Peach Meringue petticoat from DOMINO DOLLHOUSE
Accessories: Stack of 4 plastic bangles from PRIMARK; Purple stretch belt (free with DOROTHY PERKINS dress); Orange polka-dotted hair bow from thestreetsofbangkok; Black & grey mirrored acrylic necklace from THE BLACKGROUND (at Far East Plaza)
Footwear: Brown Kandy Oxfords from Le Bunny Bleu (at Bugis+)
How cute are my shoes???!! I love love love them so much! Comfort and chic are the most important thing especially if you’re gonna be on your feet all day! There were 3 different colour combinations and I couldn’t decide which one so I picked the one I felt I could match with the most number of outfits. I wish I had them all! In fact, I want all the Le Bunny Bleu shoes I saw!! These KANDY OXFORDS are currently retailing for SGD83 but ask for the wastedfashion discount and pay only SGD74.70!

Bought 7 of the 25 gifts I’m supposed to get and I’ve started counting down to my holiday! In less than 45 days, I’ll be back in Las Vegas. Then T and I will be travelling over several weekends (because he still has to work) to visit friends and family in California, Arizona and New York. YIPPIEE!
Talking about New York, did you hear that LeBunny Bleu is now in Singapore? We don’t have to make the trek to their NYC headquarters anymore! There is a LeBunny Bleu shop at Bugis+ (the mall formerly known as Illuma) and is located at the bridge connecting Bugis+ to Parco Bugis Junction. I love LeBunny Bleu for their quirky spins on classics like flats, canvas slip-ons, loafers and oxfords. And because they are mostly sensible shoes instead of ridiculously high heels, they’re exactly in line with my desire for comfort and style. Also, how can you resist their adorable bunny logo? It’s on everything! You also get to sit on bunny chairs while trying out shoes in the store! Prices in Singapore are comparable to their US-based online store, ranging from SGD60 – 95. The benefit is that you get to touch and feel the shoes in person, as well as save on shipping charges!
The Ariel Ballet Flats I’m wearing today are retailing for SGD61 but ask for the wastedfashion discount and pay only SGD54.90!
Accessories: Blue cord Chinese knot necklace from FONDA (at Far East Plaza); Blue hairbow (from a swop meet); Black calculator watch from CASIO
Footwear: Mint (and orange) Ariel Ballet Flats from Le Bunny Bleu (at Bugis+, #02-54)
